What is the opportunity?

As the Associate Director (Lead Business Systems Analyst) within the Business & Client Services Technology team, you will take a leadership role in driving the transformation and modernization of RBC Capital Markets’ Payment Systems. This is a high-impact role where you will lead the full lifecycle of requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and effective solutions. Your work will directly support the organization’s strategic goals by enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring compliance, and enabling future growth. As a senior leader, you will also mentor and guide team members, fostering excellence and continuous improvement.

What will you do?

Lead the planning, elicitation, analysis, and documentation of detailed business and system requirements, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and architecture principles.

Collaborate with solution architects, development teams, and quality engineers to translate business needs into actionable technical designs and test scenarios.

Facilitate requirements walkthroughs and maintain clear, effective communication with business stakeholders, developers, and quality assurance teams.

Manage project risks, assumptions, and constraints in partnership with the Scrum Master and Product Owner to ensure successful delivery.

Ensure traceability between project scope, requirements, testing, and implementation through advanced coverage analysis techniques.

Mentor and coach junior Business Analysts to enhance their skills and capabilities, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Build and maintain a repository of reusable requirements documentation to support future initiatives and ensure adherence to payment standards.

What do you need to succeed?

 Must have:

5-7 years working as a Business Systems Analyst with progressively increasing responsibilities in the areas of requirements management on large and complex projects

You have strong knowledge of: high-value payments ecosystem (SWIFT/Lynx/Fedwire wire payments)

Experience in Agile development and working on tools like Jira/Confluence

Experience in requirements planning and prioritization including stakeholder analysis and effort estimation

Experience in elicitation techniques such as document analysis, interviews, facilitated workshops, observation, prototyping, focus groups, surveys

Requirements management and communication – requirements walkthroughs; scope and change management; traceability; configuration management, backlog management

Solid experience with a variety of technologies/frameworks including event-driven architecture, REST APIs, microservice architecture, CI/CD processes, DevOps pipelines, etc.

Nice-to-have

Experience in the financial or insurance industry with expertise in payment systems, including ISO20022 standards, Industry Payments Modernization initiatives, and payment processing platforms such as Payment Services Hubs and payment engines.

Expertise in Canadian/US payments systems and regulatory requirements.

Ability to read and interpret data formats, including YAML, JSON, XML, and XSD.

Certification as a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or a Master’s Certificate in Business Analysis.
