The Associate Director, Excellence & Performance position will ideate, develop, and implement improvement processes and capabilities for the Enabling Services & International team within Global Procurement (GP). Acting in a Chief of Staff capacity, you will support the Enabling Services leadership team, global category leads, and collaborate with other Excellence and Performance leads across GP. This role involves reviewing initiatives, prioritizing Business Partner & Strategy (BP&S) engagement, overseeing Global Category Strategies, and developing a robust Supplier Relationship Program for strategic suppliers. Key areas include third-party risk management (TPRM) and sustainability, driving value through innovation, cost savings, and operational efficiencies. Additionally, you will advise and coach Business and Category Leaders within Enabling Services & International teams, collaborating with senior leaders from Global Procurement, Business Functions, and Strategic Suppliers.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Meeting and Event Coordination
Organize ES LT meetings, all-hands meetings, leadership offsites, and other relevant team meetings or communications.
Act as a liaison between procurement’s center teams and the implementation of initiatives.
Project and Performance Management
Track the team's book of work, providing visibility and coordination.
Assist in tracking performance and progress towards goals, including setting Goals and Objectives and maintaining performance dashboards.
PMO for special projects and overall coordination of the PMO framework.
Request and Budget Management
Handle requests for the VP and team, ensuring deadlines are met and standardization across the team, including budgets.
Skill Development and Team Needs
Identify and address skill gaps and other team needs.
Implement new initiatives and processes, ensuring understanding and adoption.
Representation and Advocacy
Represent Enabling Services & International in procurement initiatives.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for category managers on cross organizational programs, including TPRM, Market Intelligence, SRM, SIMON/spend reporting, and category strategy development.
Coaching and Advising
Coach and advise Business and Category Leaders.
Contribute to category strategy development and conduct peer reviews to ensure SRM strategies align with BMS expectations.
Lead Enabling Services on key cross-functional strategic workstreams, e.g., Supplier Management, Third Party Risk Management, Sustainability.
Partner Management
Ensure the relationship between Enabling Services & International and internal/external partners delivers value through targeted interactions and robust governance.
Coordinate performance reviews between Global Procurement, Business Partners, and Supplier leadership teams.
Support the development, gathering, and analysis of performance metrics and surveys.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education of a B.S./B.A. is required.
Minimum of seven (7) years of business experience with a minimum of five (5) years of multi-disciplined procurement experience or related category experience or relevant experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of Pharmaceutical Procurement experience, or working directly with Pharmaceutical Procurement teams or relevant experience.
Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams.
Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills.
Procurement process knowledge, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning, and integrated supply chain experience.
Team player that is collaborative and able to navigate change.
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
Professional certifications (e.g. CPM, CPIM)
Membership in Professional Associations, e.g., ISM
Experience with Enabling Services categories including Information Technology, Human Resources, Financial Services, Legal, Travel & Meetings a plus.
The starting compensation for this job in New Jersey is a range in from $161,250.00 - $195,400.00, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
