TITLE: Associate Director, Loan Capital Markets LATAM DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Associate Director, Loan Capital Markets LATAM in New York, NY to contribute to the overall success of the Loan Capital Markets LATAM team based in New York, United States, ensuring the origination, structuring and syndication of loans for Scotiabank’s clients are executed in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Prepare customized pitch books and general-purpose marketing and training material to support the team's sale efforts throughout the region, including bank market slides, market pricing and syndication strategy slides. Prepare extensive underwriting documents and company information for marketing purposes with investors, including confidential information memorandums, lenders presentations and other marketing materials. Build financial models to determine optimum capital structure for potential transactions. Manage syndication sites, answer investor questions, and communicate with participating lenders, including preparation of syndication trackers and Q&A trackers. Prepare various management reports including league table reviews, client and prospective client tracking, market share and other ad hoc portfolio management reports. Prepare credit reports (1035 form) for internal risk committees. Prepare Syndication Memorandum describing the syndicated transaction to the credit committee. Maintain the group's databases of transactions, conduct market research and remain current on the latest trends in the leveraged and investment grade loan markets. Lead/participate in the training and development of more junior members of the team when required. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in any field or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: analyzing bank market dynamics and trends; conducting analysis of the feasibility of execution and distribution of debt transactions; performing financial modeling and credit training to understand the capital structure of the company intended to finance and debt repayment capacity of borrower; interacting and communicating with financial clients; working with legal loan documentation, including negotiation skills; writing internal memos to management, and preparing marketing presentations; and developing relationships with other lending institutions. 15% travel required nationally and internationally. Proficiency in Spanish required. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
