What is the opportunity?
The Group Annuity Pricing team is looking for a senior staff member to compliment the pricing team due to the significant growth of the Canadian business. This position has responsibility for negotiations with the clients, providing technical support and guidance in model development, and liaising with internal departments for the quotation recommendation and on-boarding of new business. The position requires a proven track record of successful negotiation skills; expert knowledge of software tools including but not limited to the GGY Axis Annuity Model, DataLink, Tableau, and Microsoft Office applications; and be able to lead and direct the completion of all aspects pertaining to the pricing process.
What will you do?
•Lead the development of reinsurance pricing solutions including implementation and maintenance of reinsurance solution for current group annuity block of business as well as for complex or high-impact products
• Supervising product development, pricing and reinsurance decisions for complex or high-impact products from an actuarial perspective including asset strategy discussions with RBC Insurance Investment team and liabilities with RBC GRMI.
•Monitoring economic and regulatory environments, as well as industry and organizational results; applying these to the development of strategies for meeting current and future business needs
•Support development and enhancements of client specific mortality studies and provide support by understanding mortality trends and application of future improvements
•Present and represent Group Annuity product line as a subject matter expert in client discussions, senior management meetings and external consultant discussions pertaining to pension plan de-risking, strategies and best practices
• Assist in validation of key assumptions, gathering and applying market competition, and using business insights to identify trends/opportunities.
What will you need to succeed?
Must Have
• Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or Accounting, and FSA/FCIA designation or ASA and equivalent combined education and experience
• 10+ years of life insurance and/or reinsurance experience in pricing or product development
• Strong knowledge of GGY Axis and DataLink, MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
• Effective time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Superior customer service skills and strong team player

Nice to Have
• Knowledge of Group Annuity, Reinsurance and/or IFRS17 is a definite asset
•Prior experience with mortality studies and strong understanding of mortality trends
• Predictive analytics knowledge
