Associate Director, Digital Strategy

Overview We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Associate Director, Retail Media Strategy to lead the development of commerce strategies that drive revenue growth, increase product conversion, and enhance customer engagement. This role requires a leader with a strong strategic vision, deep retail commerce expertise, and a passion for turning data-driven insights into compelling narratives. This individual will be responsible for the development of strategy for a key client, collaborating across teams to deliver end-to-end commerce solutions that drive business impact. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads with confidence, and is known for redefining insights into action. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Plan and develop innovative commerce strategies from brief development to RFP management with retail media networks and offsite partners that drive revenue growth, optimize conversions, and enhance customer engagement. Provide strategic leadership and guidance, ensuring alignment with business objectives while offering feedback to improve client outcomes. Cultivate collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance processes, refine client deliverables, and maximize efficiencies. Key cross-functional team members include Activation (Search and Biddable Display), Investment, Project Leadership, and Account Management. Manage and nurture partnerships with retail media networks and 3rd party vendors, negotiating media buys to improve ROI and efficiency. Own budget management, ensuring media investments are accurately tracked and forecasted in budget management tools as well as strategically allocated, maximizing tactic performance on ROAs, return, and units moved. Lead process improvements within an Integrated Agency Team (IAT) model, enhancing workflow and strategic execution. Stay ahead of industry trends, identifying growth opportunities, and implementing best practices. Supervise, mentor, and develop retail media strategists, fostering career growth and skill development within the team. Represent the team as a key member of the Commerce Activation Leadership Team, influencing decision-making and shaping media strategy direction. Support multiple clients, ensuring seamless execution with support from the team. Manage direct reports, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities. Core Competencies: ✔ Media Planning & Execution – Lead paid search, display, and retail media strategy development. ✔ Thought Leadership & Client Strategy – Serve as a strategic resource for both internal teams and clients. ✔ Commerce Strategy – Drive innovation in display, social, influencer, and onsite activations within RMNs and 3rd party vendors ✔ Budget Management & Optimization – Strategic allocation of media spend to maximize impact. ✔ Process Management & Optimization – Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements. ✔ Communication & Relationship Building – Establish and maintain strong client relationships through clear and effective communication. Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, business, or a related field 5+ years of experience in media strategy, including expertise in retail media, social media, display advertising, and e-commerce - Strong background in RMNs including (but not limited to) Walmart, Amazon, Target, Kroger, or Instacart. Proven track record of driving revenue growth through innovative media strategies Ability to improve or develop process and protocols to improve client deliverables and capacity management for the team Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams Experience managing a team Ability to analyze and act in a dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Teams. Experience with tools such as Prisma or MediaTools is encouraged. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met.
