Associate Consultant – Tourism

Position Overview

We are looking for a passionate and analytical Associate Consultant to join our Tourism team, preferably in Madrid. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across Europe and beyond, with a strong focus on sustainability, climate adaptation, and evidence-based tourism development. You will contribute to research, strategy, and implementation efforts that help shape the future of tourism in a rapidly changing world.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including desk reviews, interviews, focus groups, and surveys.Analyze and synthesize tourism data and trends to support strategic decision-making.Contribute to comparative analyses, benchmarking, and action planning for tourism destinations.Support the development of tourism strategies, investment plans, and climate adaptation frameworks for tourism destinations.Prepare high-quality deliverables such as reports, presentations, and policy briefs.Assist in project management tasks and contribute to proposal writing and business development.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across ICF’s global network and participate in fieldwork in diverse destinations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tourism, Economics, Geography, Public Policy or a related field. Additional environmental and climate studies are highly welcomed.1–4 years of relevant experience in consulting, tourism development, public policy, or research.Strong research and analytical skills, including experience with tourism statistics and data interpretation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.English language proficiency is required, Spanish language proficiency is highly desirable; other European languages are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with or for public authorities (e.g., ministries, regional or local tourism departments).Familiarity with international funding institutions and EU-funded projects.Knowledge of sustainability and climate adaptation in the tourism context.Experience in proposal writing and stakeholder engagement.
