Duties Description The Associate Administrative Analyst assigned to the Gaming Unit is responsible for independently conducting complex administrative, operational, and organizational analyses that support the effective oversight of commercial gaming activities regulated by the Division of State Police. The incumbent assists in policy development, data analysis, process improvement, and coordination of interagency activities related to the regulation and monitoring of casino operations, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, standards, and internal controls. The position plays a critical role in strategic planning and operational support for the Gaming Unit.DUTIESEvaluates the effectiveness of administrative procedures, business processes, and operational workflows within the Gaming Unit.Identifies areas for efficiency improvement and makes recommendations to optimize resource allocation and workload management.Develops and maintains internal tracking systems for audit findings, regulatory issues, and project status.Assists in the development and revision of internal policies and procedures governing gaming operations oversight.Conducts impact analyses of regulatory or statutory changes on Division operations.Drafts reports, policy proposals, and internal guidelines to support decision-making by unit leadership.Gathers, analyzes, and interprets operational data from casino audits, financial filings, and compliance reports.Prepares comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for executive staff.Utilizes data to identify trends, performance issues, and compliance risks.Coordinates multi-agency initiatives involving the Division of State Police, New York State Gaming Commission, and other stakeholders.Tracks progress of unit projects and initiatives, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.Oversees the documentation and communication of project plans, updates, and deliverables.Assists with the development and evaluation of internal control mechanisms within the Gaming Unit.Supports audits and reviews by preparing documentation and analyzing compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Ensures appropriate documentation and retention of regulatory and investigative records.May supervise or lead lower-level analysts or administrative staff.Provides training and guidance on data collection methods, reporting standards, and administrative procedures.Assists in onboarding new personnel and maintaining unit procedural manuals.Complete other duties as assigned by Gaming Detail Supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent service in an administrative SG-18 or higher position, ORSeven years of professional, administrative experience identifying and solving administrative and management problems; a Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience; a Master’s degree may be substitute for an additional year of experience.Minimum qualifications must be met by the closing date of the posting.
