Job Description:
The candidate would support the US Economics team in analyzing, forecasting and communicating house views. This job will involve working with large data sets, taking ownership of coverage of certain sectors of the economy, helping to run macro models and assisting senior economists in the team with research projects. The candidate will also assist in compiling regular daily and weekly reports. There will be interaction with the sales force and traders, with some time spent sitting on the trading floor to analyze economic and Federal Reserve releases. This job also requires initiative and independent judgment to proactively generate and execute research ideas, and respond to internal (sales force and traders) and external client questions and requests.
Responsibilities
Write regular reports on economic events and their impact on the marketWrite thought pieces on broader macroeconomic issuesTake over primary coverage of key sectors of the US economyWork with Senior Analysts to develop key themesAssist Senior Analysts in creating and updating presentation materials for client meetings and eventsDevelop databases integral to different research productsSeek out new, value-added, and/or unusual sources of informationLeverage our robust internal data setRequirements
PhD-level coursework in economics. PhD preferred but not required1-2 years of relevant work experience preferredDemonstrate knowledge of EconometricsThe candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environmentStrong writing and spreadsheet skills. Must be an expert at MS ExcelExperience working with statistical packages and/or programming experienceMust have excellent communication skills, written and verbalMust have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-taskMust work well in a collaborative team environmentShift:
