Our Trade Control team monitors and verifies trade flows through various source systems in a timely and precise manner in order to ensure accuracy for downstream stakeholders. As an Associate in Trade Control, you will be accountable for providing day-to-day support for global derivative trading. This includes ensuring all transactions executed by the front office have been completely and accurately booked into the requisite applications. This role is an opportunity to learn about a wide array of derivatives and general Capital Markets processes. _At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role._ _You’ll_ _have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where_ _you’ll_ _spend 3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote._ **How You'll Succeed** + **Trade Control:** You will play a critical role in trade verification by meticulously validating all trade details against blotters, broker confirmations, external trading platforms, trade tickets, and trader files, in strict adherence to established daily control procedures. Your advanced understanding of derivatives and other capital markets products will enable you to identify and resolve complex discrepancies, ensuring the highest level of accuracy in trade capture. You will thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment where rapid, informed responses to front office requests are essential. As an escalation point for analysts and a key support for the trading floor, you will leverage your expertise to resolve intricate trade issues and provide guidance on best practices. Your strong attention to detail and organizational skills will be vital in maintaining comprehensive records of daily controls for audit and compliance purposes. + **Reporting and Reconciliation:** You will be responsible for the preparation and review of daily reports integral to the Trade Control group’s processes, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all reported data. Your responsibilities will include reconciling trades between internal and external systems, proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies. Your analytical skills and deep product knowledge will be essential in identifying root causes of reconciliation breaks and implementing effective solutions in order to strengthen the team’s control environment. + **Business Acumen:** You will maintain and continuously expand your in-depth knowledge of Capital Markets products, with a particular focus working with interest rate and FX derivative products, operational and settlement practices of bonds, swaps, options, futures and foreign exchange. Your expertise will enable you to anticipate and address emerging risks, contribute to process improvements, and deliver timely, high-quality results for a diverse range of stakeholders. You will be relied upon to coach and communicate technical information to both peers and junior team members, ensuring alignment and understanding across the team. + **Stakeholder Management:** You will serve as a primary escalation point and trusted advisor for internal departments, traders, and marketers on all trade control-related matters. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to build effective relationships and represent the Trade Control group in cross-functional initiatives and projects. You will proactively identify opportunities to enhance processes and support the team’s strategic objectives, contributing to the ongoing success of the Capital Markets business. **Who You Are** + **You have an undergraduate university degree** in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related field. + **You have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience** working with Interest Rate and FX derivative products, including operational and settlement practices of bonds, swaps, options, futures, and foreign exchange. You possess a strong understanding of the mechanics and lifecycle of these products. + **You have experience** working in a financial institution with a strong understanding of the division of major departments in a bank and the flow of information. + **You have the technical knowledge** . You have intermediate to advanced Excel skills, specifically for reconciling complex datasets from multiple sources. Experience with data analysis tools or VBA is an asset. + **You like helping others grow and learn** . You have experience mentoring, coaching, or training junior staff, and are comfortable acting as an escalation point for complex trade issues and process exceptions. + **You’re a proactive problem solver.** You thrive when empowered to take initiative, resolve discrepancies, and deliver results under pressure.
