What You'll Be Doing
 

The Trade Control group provides support to CIBC’s businesses through effective governance and control processes for all derivative products. Individuals are required to monitor and verify trade flows through various source systems in a timely and precise manner in order to ensure accuracy for downstream stakeholders.

As an Associate in Trade Control, you will be accountable for providing day-to-day support for global derivative trading. This includes ensuring all transactions executed by the front office have been completely and accurately booked into the requisite applications. This role is an opportunity to learn about a wide array of derivatives and general Capital Markets processes.

How You'll Succeed

Trade Control: You will engage in trade verification by meticulously verifying all trade details against blotters, broker confirmations, external trading platforms, trade tickets, and trader files, adhering to established daily control procedures aimed at detecting errors and omissions in trade capture. You will thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment where time pressures necessitate a rapid response to requests from the trading floor. Collaborating within a dynamic team, you will find that sharing skills and knowledge is essential for success. Your focused attention to detail will be crucial when reviewing trade information in booking systems, and you will maintain an organized approach to record keeping of daily controls for audit purposes.

Reporting and Reconciliation: You will be responsible for running daily reports associated with the Trade Control group, which are integral to the group's control processes. Additionally, you will reconcile trades between internal and external systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency in trade data. Your efforts in both reporting and reconciliation will contribute significantly to the overall effectiveness of the team's operations.

Business Acumen: You will maintain a high level of knowledge about Capital Markets business products while collaborating with your peers to deliver timely results for various stakeholders. You will also have the ability to effectively transfer this knowledge in an accurate and clear manner to junior staff members.

Representation: You will serve as the secondary point of contact and conduit for all internal departments, traders, and marketers regarding trade control-related matters. As needed, you may also participate in key initiatives and projects to support the team's objectives.

Who You Are

You have an undergraduate university degree in Mathematics, Economics, or Finance.

You have 2 years of relevant experience working with Interest Rate and FX derivative products, operational and settlement practices of bonds, swaps, options, futures, and foreign exchange. Having a strong understanding.

You have experience working in a financial institution with a strong understanding of the division of major departments in a bank and the flow of information.

You have the technical knowledge. You bring intermediate Excel knowledge, specifically for reconciling datasets from different sources.

You act like an owner. You thrive when you're empowered to take initiative, go above and beyond, and deliver results.  You respond to requests and handle discrepancies in an accurate and timely manner.

You communicate in a meaningful way. You demonstrate strong communication skills when interacting with the back office, investigations officers, traders, marketers, and the middle office regarding trade bookings and amendments.

You excel at finding solutions. You bring solid problem solving, analytical thinking and ability to use initiative while responding to non-routine queries.

You are passionate about people. You have strong interpersonal skills, including good teamwork and relationship building.

You know the details matter. You’re confident and thorough, using good judgment, decision making and attention to detail.

You’re digitally savvy. You have experience or knowledge of MarkitWire, Bloomberg Terminal, Wall Street Systems. Harmony experience is an asset
