As an Associate, Paralegal, you will be trusted to advance and protect Alcon’s legal interests by providing critical paralegal support to the attorneys on the Global Litigation and Government Investigations team, as well as take a primary role in the preparation of key litigation and investigation-related reports to senior management. This position sits onsite in Fort Worth, TX.

In this role, a typical day will include:

Leads intake of new matters, including the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of document preservation notices.

 In collaboration with eDiscovery and external counsel, takes a primary role in managing the eDiscovery aspects of litigation matters, including managing the preservation, collection and production of documents.

 Manages the SOX 302 reporting process for Alcon’s Legal Department.

 Collaborates with legal team members worldwide in preparing quarterly General Counsel report cataloguing outstanding litigation and investigation matters.

Designs and maintains litigation case management systems and case files.

 Facilitates and takes part in meetings with company employees in connection with actual or threatened litigation, including with respect to the preservation and collection of records.

Serves as primary contact for Alcon insurance team with respect to insured litigation matters.

 Interfaces with and supports the Credit and Accounts Receivable team in bad debt and bankruptcy-related matters.

Partners with Quality Complaints Division on product liability matters to provide and receive necessary information to handle matters in accordance with Corporate Legal and Medical Safety protocols.

 Act as liaison between Alcon employees and inside/outside counsel on various matters.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

High School Diploma or equivalent

The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.

3 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

Significant experience as a litigation paralegal in a large law firm environment and/or large company legal department is strongly preferred.

Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills, including ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and quickly master a diverse array of tasks.

Superior attention to detail, including in the preparation of written work product.

High emotional intelligence and demonstrated ability to interface with and support legal and non-legal professionals in the context of ongoing or threatened litigation.

 Highly skilled communicator who works best in a collaborative environment and builds trust and mutual credibility across the organization.

Learning agility to acquire/apply new practices and information in a constantly changing environment.

 Role model for Alcon’s values and behaviors.

Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills with the ability to express thoughts in a clear and concise manner.

Must be proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
