Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets Global Investment Banking is seeking an Associate to join its market leading Debt Capital Markets group in Toronto.

RBC Capital Markets’ Debt Capital Markets group provides a broad range of fixed income execution and advisory services to domestic and international clients, including corporate issuers across a broad range of industries, and financial institutions. The Debt Capital Markets group in Canada is primarily responsible for structuring and marketing public and private debt instruments in both investment grade and high yield.

As an Associate, you will work closely with investment banking industry coverage partners, corporate banking, sales and trading, and derivatives teams as well as with our global Debt Capital Markets partners to achieve optimal execution for our evolving client base.

What will you do?

Assist in the structuring and execution of corporate debt financings and support broad client coverageSupport client advisory and work collaboratively with Global Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Global Markets colleaguesDevelop and hone transferable analytical skills through direct transaction experienceGain exposure and insight into investment banking client coverage and global capital marketsAssist in the preparation of client presentations and transaction documentation for both deal execution and client coverage effortsProvide general support to the debt capital markets groupPlay an important role in training and development of junior analyst resourcesWork directly with senior levels of Canada’s largest and fastest growing companiesBuild a long-term career in Capital Markets

What you need to succeed?

Must-haves

University degree, preferably in business/commerce, economics, “STEM” or other relevant disciplineDemonstrated superior track record in academic and professional endeavorsDCM, investment banking or related experience (minimum 3 to 4-years direct or related experience)A self-starter and strong team player with ability to work well in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environmentStrong quantitative and analytical skills; financial modeling experience would be desiredKnowledge of accounting (ability to interpret financial statements) and solid understanding of credit metrics is essentialIntellectual curiosity with a passion for markets and sound knowledge of the corporate bond marketsAdvanced MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills are a mustHigh regard for detail and accuracyExcellent written and oral communication skillsWillingness to work long hours
