As an Associate in Stout’s Accounting & Reporting Advisory group, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to deliver a broad range of accounting and finance advisory services, including technical accounting, financial reporting, controllership support, and post-acquisition integration. You’ll support clients across industries from early-stage startups to large public companies by helping prepare financial statements, conduct technical accounting research, support SEC readiness efforts, and assist with day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role that offers exposure to high-impact projects and opportunities to grow your skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
As a member of the ARA practice, the Associate will:
Partner with clients ranging from early stage to large publicly traded organizations in an industry agnostic environmentPrepare and review of account reconciliations and communication with client vendorsReview of complex contracts and the related technical accounting researchPreparation of accounting memoranda and policiesDetermine appropriate journal entries and other operational accounting mattersPreparation of financial statements, footnotes, and disclosuresResearch on SEC filing requirements, and preparation of supporting accounting schedules and other audit supportServe as post-acquisition integration SME including demonstrating familiarity with standard IMO practices and proceduresServe as a technical accounting subject-matter expert for the firm’s valuation practice, providing ad hoc research and supportOversee day-to-day accounting operations for clients including management of accounts payable and accounts receivable, processing and posting payroll, preparing and posting journal entriesActively involved in business development including client pursuits and proposalsIdentify areas to scale efficiencies and new ways of working across multiple projects and environmentsInteract with finance-focused ERPs, e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP, OracleThe selected candidate will be an entrepreneurial self-starter, who is interested in participating in growth of service line within the established firm.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Broad knowledge of US GAAP, which may include: purchase accounting, derivatives, complex debt and equity securities, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, and lease accountingFinancial statement preparationExperience interpreting complex accounting standards/treatment and documenting into practical termsDeep experience with M&A transactions, particularly with post-acquisition integrationAICPA and PCAOB-level audit readiness preferredExperience presenting to the c-suite and executive tierEntrepreneurial and client-service focusedStrong organizational skillsFamiliarity with accounting systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Bill.com, and ExpensifyRelationship-focused (with clients, peers, management, etc.)Positive and enthusiastic attitudeExcels in a team-oriented work environmentShows creativity in problem solvingAccountability and ability to multi-taskStrong technical and analytical skillsEducation and/or Training:

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
