What you'll do in the role:
Contribute to the function through a range of operational activities and project tasks, developing an understanding of the business and operating environment.
Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services using REST
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
Troubleshoot and debug applications
Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices
Optimize application performance and scalability
Create and maintain technical documentation
What you'll bring to the role:
Ability to engage with the broader team, communicate goals, tasks and deliverables in 1-1 and team meetings.
At least 2 years of professional experience in Java backend development
Strong proficiency in Java 8 or higher
Experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data)
Working knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation
Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, Sybase) and SQL
Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
Understanding of microservices architecture
Knowledge of build tools such as Gradle
Basic understanding of containerization (Docker)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
