The part-time assistant coach for Women's Soccer is responsible for assisting the head Women's Soccer coach in implementing and directing all phases of a competitive NCAA Division III Women's Soccer program at DePauw University. This includes recruiting quality student-athletes, organizing and planning practices and game strategies, scouting, coaching, scheduling, budgeting and planning team travel in compliance with University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Along with the head coach, implement and execute a comprehensive recruiting plan for the identification and recruitment of qualified student-athletes, and maintain an acceptable roster per the University.
Along with the head coach, develop and implement plans and strategies for practices and competition which result in athletics success.
Mentor student athletes to ensure athletics and academic success.
At the direction of the head coach, make transportation and lodging arrangements for team travel
Administer a fiscally sound athletics program.
At the direction of the head coach, evaluate program effectiveness.
At the direction of the head coach, monitor student-athletes’ academic progression.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or head women’s soccer coach.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
Experience: Collegiate playing experience in soccer highly desirable. Experience coaching goalies highly desirable. Must maintain certification in first aid/CPR/AED throughout entire appointment.
Communication/Language: Basic: Ability to read, listen to and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write and communicate simple correspondence.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, Google Apps, Teamworks, other programs as determined by specific sport responsibilities.
Certificates & Licenses: A valid US driver’s license is required. Certification in first aid/CPR/AED is required by first date of appointment and must be maintained throughout appointment.

Other Physical Demands:
During the playing and practice season (generally 18 - 30 weeks in a 52 week period), when this individual’s primary responsibility is coaching a sport, the coach will stand/walk/sit for 3-6 hours per day at practice, perform office tasks (meet with student-athletes and colleagues and respond to correspondence), and on the phone and computer (primarily recruiting).
Outside of the playing and practice season or on days in which there is not scheduled practice or competition, the coach will sit /walk/stand during the day, and conduct business both in-person and on the phone.
They must be able to enact the emergency action plan at practice and competition, supervise students on day and overnight travel, and organize/manage travel plans for themself and the team.
A coach is required to create and respond to correspondence (email and Microsoft office/Google docs) and maintain electronic recruiting records.
They must be able to provide basic demonstrations of skills and tactics, describe any modifications they are unable to demonstrate, apply appropriate game rules to the teaching and practicing and monitor for safety while coaching.
They must be able to recruit student-athletes, which requires phone calls and traveling off-campus, and evaluating written, oral and digital information from prospective student-athletes, and interact with outside interests in the form of DePauw alumni, high school coaches, club team coaches, and parents during the recruitment of student athletes. The coach must interact with colleagues from Admissions to ensure effective visits by prospective student athletes, which includes scheduling their student athletes for host training, securing hosts, and coordinating communication between themselves, the admissions office and the prospective student athlete.
