Assistant VP - Orthopedic Services

Work where you matter.** **A Brief Overview** In collaboration with appropriate interdisciplinary team members, responsible for assuring that services are provided in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner that enhances patient, staff, and physician satisfaction. The AVP will work with budgets, develop, and implement operating systems. This position will also hire, train, and evaluate staff as well as manage quality improvement processes. In addition, the AVP will be responsible for enhancing practice and services, ensure that the department meets all regulatory body requirements, and assist with developing policies for management functions for orthopedic services. **What you will do** + Facilitates staff and resources to reinforce the vision of Avera Orthopedics and Avera system. These qualities can be described as creativity, insight, motivation, influence, commitment and persistency. + Effectively communicates to customers, staff, and co-workers. Policies, plans, requirements, expectations, and thoughts must be communicated in a way that is understood and preferably supported. + Develops short and long range plans for the departments, community and health system. The plans should support the mission and vision of Avera McKennan and Avera Health. + Establishes benchmark goals to guide the department’s activities and effectively deal with variances. This includes: developing data, analysis, setting thresholds, and developing action plans which resolve discrepancies. + Manages the resources of responsible departments in a way that provides effective outcomes while at the same time only using minimum resources to achieve those outcomes. This includes staffing, supplies and time. + Develops positive relationships with customers (physicians, caregivers, patients, families, and referral sources) that help to promote Avera referral base. + Utilizes teamwork to help achieve objectives and improve operations within the department, Avera McKennan hospital, and Avera Health. + Maintains basic knowledge of Medicare reimbursement principles. Knows and addresses to applicable laws and regulations. Reviews and updates departmental policies and practices to reflect current regulations. + Supports Avera Health and Avera McKennan strategic goals and develops the departmental goals accordingly. + Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. **Essential Qualifications** The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
