For more information, please visit us at https://marcomm.tamu.edu/ What we want Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Assistant Vice President of Brand and Marketing Operations leads the development, execution, and optimization of integrated marketing efforts that elevate Texas A&M’s reputation, visibility, and impact. With a strong emphasis on marketing activation, this leader will oversee major initiatives across paid media, advertising, partnerships, brand management, and campaign operations. The AVP will ensure that Texas A&M’s brand is not only well-defined and well-positioned, but well-deployed, brought to life through compelling, consistent, and measurable marketing efforts that reach key audiences and move them to action. This role will lead and integrate functions such as: + Strategic marketing partnerships and sponsorships + Paid advertising strategy and placement + Brand management and campaign deployment + Marketing analytics and performance measurement + Agency and vendor relationships + Operational planning and resource allocation The AVP will work closely with central marketing and communications colleagues and collaborate extensively across Texas A&M’s colleges, divisions, and campuses to align efforts, scale success, and amplify the university’s strategic priorities. This individual must possess a deep respect for the Aggie spirit and tradition, paired with a drive for modern marketing excellence, operational rigor, and results. This is a role for a builder, an activator, and an integrator, someone who turns strategy into action and action into results. Qualifications Required Education and Experience + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination or education and experience. + Eight years of progressively responsible management experience in marketing, media, public relations, advertising, or communications. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Proven strategic, analytical, creative, and planning skills. + Superior communication and people skills. + Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team. + Superior organizational skills - must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively. + Excellent project management, analytical, communication, and diplomacy skills. + Must be able to work well under pressure. + Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills, including establishing cooperative working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and campus partners. + Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive brand strategy and alignment. Preferred Qualifications + Recent experience in higher education or in a higher education supporting organization. Three years supervisory experience. + Ten years of progressively responsible management experience, including supervisory experience. + Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, business administration, or related field. + Ten years of increasing responsibility and leadership in brand building and management, marketing strategy, and strategic planning. + Experience in building professional-grade, insight-based, distinct brand positions, strategies, platforms, and resulting marketing campaigns. + Experience in leadership roles in marketing, brand management, advertising, or related fields, including experience leading enterprise-wide brand strategies. + Demonstrated experience directing, managing, and supervising marketing teams, including within higher education. + Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets. + Progressive leadership roles in marketing, brand management, advertising, or related fields. + Strong foundational marketing and brand management experience and in-depth knowledge of brand management, strategic marketing, advertising and promotion, and the uses of digital media. + Broad understanding of the organizational structure, operations, budgets, and finances. + Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding environment while maintaining accuracy of work. Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy + Serves as the primary advisor to the Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer in brand strategy and development, integrated marketing planning, and overall alignment across a large team of university-wide marketing and communication professionals. + Provides strategic direction and leadership for the brand and marketing team, ensuring understanding, alignment, and embrace of the university’s essence, core values, strategic priorities, and objectives. + Anticipates and capitalizes on emerging trends in branding and marketing, utilizing this knowledge to refine Texas A&M University’s strategy and positioning Texas A&M as a trailblazer in higher education marketing. + Oversees brand and marketing team, enrollment demand marketing team, and knowledge and insights team, while other teams/functions could be added in time. Team and People Development + Defines and refines team composition, roles, and responsibilities; helps attract, hire, train, coach, motivate, retain, develop, hold accountable, and promote world-class brand and marketing talent at Texas A&M University. + Champions a culture of curiosity, optimism, empowerment, excellence, continuous learning, and growth, fostering the development of a high-performing team equipped to seize opportunities and tackle evolving challenges. Brand Management, Campaigns, and Messaging + Oversees the implementation, management, and continuous assessment of the university's brand strategy, positioning, and platform to prosper and ensure a distinct, compelling, and consistent brand identity. + Leads the strategy and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that drive measurable target audience enchantment, demand, affinity, and reputational results. + Leads the creation and dissemination of key marketing messages across various platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with the university’s core values, strategic priorities and objectives. Alignment + Champions and leads university alignment in brand strategy and positioning. + Guides or directs marketing and communications across the university, including guidance to colleges, schools, advancement, research enterprise, and enrollment management through integrated independence. Collaboration + Works closely with university leadership, departments, and external partners to support and realize institutional goals. + Forges deep connections with stakeholders to cultivate a shared sense of pride, purpose, and belonging within the Aggie community. Analytics and Reporting + Oversees brand and marketing analytics, utilizing data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of brand and marketing efforts, and make informed decisions to optimize future campaigns. Budget Management + Oversees budget planning and management for the brand and marketing team. + Effectively manages marketing budget and resources, ensuring optimal return on investment for brand and marketing initiatives.
