Job Overview:
The Assistant Vice President, Clinical Services is an integral part of the Children s service line leadership team and provides clinical leadership to the health system s pediatric programs. The AVP works with medical and surgical teams to build and manage nationally recognized programs of excellence that deliver safe, evidenced based, patient centered, and efficient care. This individual will have a strong clinical background, preferably in high intensity pediatric care programs. Nursing degree with advanced clinical education or significant clinical programmatic development preferred
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum 10 years of experience as Advance Practice Nurse, Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse.Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing pediatric clinical services/programs. Current NJ state license.Broad knowledge of modern healthcare administration practices and principles within a complex healthcare system. A balanced understanding of health care financial, operational, and human dimensions for various types of health care services, including knowledge of population-based outcomes improvement processes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Emphasizes the positive and provides clear direction with a results-oriented cycle, both within and outside the organization. Must meet accreditation requirements set forth by the rules and regulations of the medical staff.Unimpeachable professional and personal integrity. Experience in pediatric cardiac surgeryEssential Functions:
Quality & safety Provides leadership to service line and hospital initiatives for quality and safety assessment and improvement, identifying and executing on opportunities to ensure top quality outcomes, including running system RCAs, and managing performance and quality improvement projects. Will be responsible for rolling out nationally recognized quality programs such as STS, PC4, NSQIP across sites within the health system, as well as monitoring of performance improvement in high intensity clinical programs based on these program benchmarks. Develops, monitors, and implements system-wide quality and safety KPIs.Will be central to the development and organization of a pediatric service line peer review conference. Will work with CPO and Service Line administrative leaders to ensure action items are developed and closure is brought to all SSE reviewed through the system. May participate in site root cause analysis. Serves as the clinical representative on appropriate committeesProgram Readiness and Development Will assist in the development of high intensity clinical programs and care delivery systems across the pediatric service line, including the development and standardization of clinical care pathways across inpatient sites and the identification and development of capabilities for managing complex patients. Will partner with service line administrative leaders and clinical leadership to assist with the launch of multi-disciplinary programs, including facilitating the workflow development and oversight for all epic builds and requests to build flowsheets and algorithms to launch programs. Will manage and be responsible for a care coordination team, composed of nurse navigators and care coordinators that spans inpatient and outpatient programs. With physician leaders, evaluates existing care models for opportunities to provide more effective and efficient care. Establishes multi-disciplinary programs.With physician and hospital partners, leads achievement of programmatic recognition through Joint Commission, American College of Surgeons and other accreditations and ranking in US News and World Report Best Children s Hospitals survey.Education & development Will develop and implement educational programs to advance on site skills for nursing and APP s working in advanced programs (critical care, cardiac ) throughout the systemWill develop and pediatric APP council, set standards and policy for APP s and advance culture to ensure recruitment and retention of APP sWith physician and hospital partners, leads achievement of programmatic recognition through Joint Commission, American College of Surgeons and other accreditations and ranking in US News and World Report Best Children s Hospitals survey.Builds highly functioning and engaged teams. Provides mentorship and personal development opportunities. Establishes and maintains effective communication relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
