Assistant Vice President, Broking

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in New York, New York. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

This role will be responsible for servicing existing clients and developing new relationships within the insurance carrier and MGA sectors, with the opportunity to rapidly build and manage a diverse portfolio. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong listening, analytical skills, attention to detail, proactive problem solving, reinsurance analytics, and effective sales process management.

We will count on you to:

Embody a culture of client service and professionalism and be comfortable producing new client relationships over time

Manage reinsurance placements from start to finish inclusive of post placement activities to address client needs outside of renewal activities, including advisory functions.

Assist in educating our clients in advancements in the insurance technology field

Develop a rapport with clients to be viewed as a trusted advisor in all aspects of their business. Confidently present to clients on state of the market, reinsurance terms and conditions, and treaty analytics

Liaise with contract wording departments to develop wording to address changes requested by clients

Liaise with actuarial resources to develop renewal pricing strategies and guidance on portfolios of business

Liaise with accounting and claims department to ensure timely processing of premium payments and claims processing as well as promptly address any issues which may arise

What you need to have:

3+ years’ experience in underwriting/broking and/or reinsurance broking

Bachelor’s degree

Advanced MS Office skills, specifically a strong proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel

Strong critical thinking skills in finance, economics and/or statistics

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $85,500 to $168,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
