Assistant Underwriter

Purpose:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Underwriter to join our Property and Casualty underwriting team. The ideal candidate will support underwriters in evaluating risks, processing applications, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This role is essential in maintaining the efficiency of the underwriting process and providing excellent service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist underwriters in the evaluation of insurance applications for property and casualty coverage. Gather and analyze relevant data, including loss history, financial statements, and risk assessments. Prepare and maintain underwriting files, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate. Communicate with agents and brokers to obtain necessary information and clarify details of applications. Support the underwriting team in the development of quotes and policy terms. Monitor and track renewal applications, ensuring timely processing and follow-up. Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for management. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance underwriting knowledge. Participate in training and development opportunities to improve underwriting skills. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field preferred. 2+ years experience in a similar role. Previous experience in insurance, finance, or a related field is a plus. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of property and casualty insurance products and underwriting principles is a plus.
