GQ seeks an organized, confident, and collaborative individual to support GQ’s Global Editorial Director. This position is highly administrative, and candidates must possess a keen attention to detail, excellent sense of time management, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates must have a passion for GQ, fashion, journalism, and culture, as well as excellent writing and communication skills.
The role requires problem-solving and a proactive attitude. Candidates should be prepared to anticipate the Global Editorial Director’s needs and think days, weeks, and months ahead.
Supporting the Global Editorial Director will often require this person to respond quickly and carefully to urgent requests. It is imperative that this person is flexible, responsive, efficient, and calm under pressure.
The Assistant to the Global Editorial Director interacts extensively with other Conde Nast employees and figures in the fashion and media industry. Professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail are paramount.
Prior experience in office administration and creating social-first content is a strong plus, though not required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide excellent administrative support, including but not limited to calendar/schedule management, travel arrangements, and expenses for Global Editorial Director and senior editors as needed
Ensure GED’s preparedness for daily meetings, presentations, and other engagements, including accompanying GED to external events, as necessary
Filter and facilitate the GED’s meetings with internal staff and external stakeholders
Receive and occasionally host guests of the Global Editorial Director at 1 World Trade Center
Prepare briefing materials for important meetings and functions
Collaborate with global teams across multiple regions, ensuring smooth communication and alignment on international meetings, tasks, and initiatives
Filter and relay necessary information to and from the GED, streamlining key updates and ensuring timely responses on internal, external, and global matters
Support GED with content creation and promotion of GQ editorial projects, with a specific focus on social media platforms
Handle mail, packages, returns and messengers
Represent the GED and GQ with poise and professionalism in all interactions, maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
BA in English, Journalism or relevant Liberal Arts degree
Interest in fashion and culture
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with G-Suite (Calendar, Sheets, Slides)
Experience creating content for social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, X, etc.)
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Must be highly self-sufficient and resourceful
A deep familiarity with Condé Nast brands and their editorial voice and DNA
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)
Knowledge of CMS, SEO and HTML is highly preferred
Proficiency with Adobe Suite is highly preferred
The expected base salary range for this position is from $63,000-$70,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
