Assistant Technical Project Manager, Restraints and Seating

We are currently in search of an Assistant Technical Project Manager to join our Restraints and Seating group within the Vehicle Engineering department. The ideal candidate will possess project management experience in the automotive industry, along with a strong background in LEAN manufacturing. We're looking for someone with demonstrated success supporting engineering teams with investigations, testing and analysis with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

Support engineering team at the manufacturing plant (OEM) on activities such as trials, investigations, quality sorts, and containments. Assist in developing parts requirement lists and managing parts logistics to support plant trials and quality investigations. Ensure all parts are available and delivered on time to support plant activities and quality containment efforts. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components required for plant-based trials and investigations. Ensure all logistics activities related to Engineering are coordinated to deliver a flawless project i.e. Inbound shipments, Finished Vehicle Logistics, Material Flow, Freight, Packaging, Engineering Change, Warehousing, Systems and Trade compliance for Hazmat Material shipments as well as for international shipments. Develop comprehensive project plans to support manufacturing trials, quality investigations, and containment actions. Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, cross-project dependencies. Monitor Warehouse parts picks, confirming correct PNs and Qty are retrieved, properly packed and shipped on time. Identify, manage and monitor completion of shipments throughout the project. Develop and maintain dashboards, metrics and KPIs to show progress and readiness. Manage and track closure of issues to ensure problems are being closed in a timely manner or escalated. Document best practices and lessons learned throughout the duration of the program. Establish working relationships with plant operations, quality, and logistics teams to support manufacturing readiness and issue resolution. Provide input to budget development to ensure adequate resources for plant-based support activities and quality initiatives. Provide feedback and lessons learned from plant support activities into future program planning. A small amount of travel may be required to support operational teams.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in any of the following areas: transportation, warehouse operations, material flow, material planning, packaging or materials handling. 2+ years of related automotive industry experience and LEAN manufacturing. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time with ability to meet project timelines. Experience in using project management tools. Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications. A history of working independently with limited oversight or input.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Logistics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field. (An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.)
