CoachingMass Youth Soccer is seeking a qualified Assistant Technical Director and Olympic Development Program Manager (ODP) to join our Technical Director. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Technical Director.
The Assistant Technical Director is responsible for leading ODP and supporting the Mass Youth Soccer Technical Department with curriculum development, coach education, player development programming, member organization outreach and other tasks as assigned by the Technical Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Management
Lead the recruiting, hiring and training of ODP Staff Lead the recruiting, hiring and training of Summer Clinic Staff Lead the planning, implementation, continuous review and improvement of Summer Clinics Supervise ODP Coaches and Team Managers to fulfil job responsibilities review, edit and update ODP documentation, policies and procedures on a yearly basis Lead ODP tryouts and attend all ODP training and events Assist the Technical Director with management and monitoring of staffing for all Mass Youth Soccer programming and Coach EducationCurriculum Development
Support the Technical Department in the development of educational and development resources for Players, Coaches, Parents and Administrators Review written and website coaching materials appropriateness, implement changes if applicable Serve as an editor for written, audio and video offerings coming from the Technical Department Assist with the development of clinics/modules to improve coach and parent/player education in the stateCoach/Player Development
Lead relationships with 3rd party Camp Partners Assist with developing, implementing and maintaining a strategic plan to advance coach development in Massachusetts Attend Mass Youth Soccer programming as assigned (GOALS, Districts, Town Select League, Special clinics and Tryouts) to ensure that all programs are delivered in a professional manner aligned with Mass Youth Soccer mission and values Establish and maintain guidelines or other training materials to be used by Mass Youth Soccer coaches and volunteers Guide/assist and mentor member organizations in their quest for quality youth soccer programs (coach/player development, strategic planning, curriculums, hiring a DOC, board goals)Outreach Initiatives support the Technical Department team to advance soccer in areas of Massachusetts that are currently under resourced, including both urban and rural areas
Work with the GOALS program manager, community organizations and other non-profit entities (community centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, etc.) to expand soccer opportunities throughout the state Collaborate with the Technical team to promote and support outreach programs including TOPS, Special Olympics and Adaptive SoccerCommunications & Public Relations Produce articles, podcasts, analysis and/or coaching tips for distribution by Mass Youth Soccer
Provide Coaching Education content for the Mass Youth Soccer website Attend, within the constraints of the approved budget, meetings or workshops conducted by US Soccer, US Youth Soccer, United Soccer Coaches, and other soccer organizations to assess new player and coach development initiatives Respond to correspondence from members in a timely fashion, answering questions or directing them to the appropriate Mass Youth personnelAdditional Duties: The role of Assistant Technical Director & ODP Program Manager includes additional duties that are a natural progression from the essential duties and responsibilities noted above. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the role's responsibility if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of reasonable request of a managerial role with the Association.
Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the United States US Soccer "B" National Coaching License Extensive coaching experience at the youth, high school, collegiate or professional levels. Exposure to coaching at the recreational, travel and premier levels preferred Excellent verbal and written communications skills Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook) and the ability to use these tools in daily tasks. Knowledge of the the state/national/international soccer culture Ability to work effectively within a diverse volunteer organization Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlines Reliable transportation to travel to events throughout the state Ability to lift 50lbsPreferred Qualifications:
