Assistant Registrar for Athletic Certification

The Office of the University Registrar serves as the liaison amongst university constituents to ensure compliance with academic policies, procedures, and deadlines. The Assistant University Registrar for Athletic Certification will serve as the certifying official for academic eligibility of entering freshmen student-athletes, transfer student-athletes, and continuing student-athletes. The incumbent will work closely with Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes, Academic Advisors within the Schools, and the Athletic Compliance Office regarding National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) academic rules and regulations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Determine student-athlete eligibility for practice and competitionServe as the certification official with regards toNCAAinitial eligibility, transfer eligibility, and continuing eligibilityMonitor student-athlete reinstatementPrepare and submit the institution’s annualNCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Academic Progress Rate (APR)reportsTrain the Schools on theNCAAcertification process and their role in relation to the certification processServe as the point of contact for internal and external NCAA auditsMaintain student-athlete records in Compliance AssistantMonitor reporting for student-athlete course adds, drops, and withdrawalsAssist Associate University Registrar with related projectsCollaborate with others in the office to understand the processes that affect student-athlete certification

Serves as primary contact for compliance rules, interpretations, and questions and maintains oversight of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility. Coordinates with other units to monitor admission and eligibility. Assists with the management and processing of compliance files and confidential information and submits Academic Progress Rates (APR) and Graduation Success Rates (GSR). Oversees the Athletics Department’s agent registration program.

Serves as primary contact for compliance rules, interpretations, and questions and maintains oversight of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility. Coordinates with other units to monitor admission and eligibility. Assists with the management and processing of compliance files and confidential information and submits Academic Progress Rates (APR) and Graduation Success Rates (GSR). Oversees the Athletics Department’s agent registration program.

The ability to interpret, explain, and apply with the utmost integrity NCAA and ACC rules and regulations, in conjunction with university policy, is essential and attention to detail in doing so is crucial. This position also includes the maintenance of athletic records related to certification of student-athletes according to applicable policies, laws, and regulations. This position will require frequent interaction with the Department of Athletics, Faculty Athletic Representative, admission and advising offices in the Schools, and other administrative offices on campus. Preference will be given to candidates with NCAA eligibility experience. Attendance at meetings throughout the Pittsburgh campus, as well as potential travel to other locations in and out of the state.
