Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Provide support to the Quantity Surveyor and the AFWP Team to deliver the works programme. Ability to carry out on-site measurements and able to read and measure from CAD Drawings. To prepare an estimators report identifying the basis pricing information, resources and other mitigating factors in order in order that the Company may make judgement on the profitability and risk associated with works, before submitting an offer to our Client. Prepare Firm Prices using the PSA Schedule of Rates for multiple works throughout the year. To prepare estimates and budgets from our clients statement of requirements (SOR's) using our standard labour and Plant rates or contracted schedule of rates. To prepare tender and associated subcontract documentation ensuring that tenders are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures to provide transparency to the Client or Audit Team. To provide a contract surveying function to collate all variations for compiling a projected final account summary and prepare final account. To prepare material variance reports to check accuracy of estimates, shortfalls or excessive material orders. To review FP/FF offers against our actual costs by extracting from our business management system “Maximo” database to reveal “open-book” to our client. NEC3/4 Experience Desirable.
To monitor sub-contractor performance in consultation with the project managers or technical officers.
To participate in the recording of delays & preparation of any request for extensions of time; To attend meetings with other stakeholders (if so delegated to do); Supervision of work as required by the Commercial Manager. To apply a neat and accurate approach in all day to day activities and to strive to enhance one's own professional capabilityAny other duties relevant to the role and to carry out all reasonable requests of management.
What we are looking for:
Degree or HNC or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Construction. Must have a minimum of IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent. The role may include some form of strenuous physical activity; therefore, the incumbent must have the ability to undertake such duties. GCSE in English and Maths (Grade C and above) or equivalent. Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite. Have basic knowledge of databases, ability to manage and retrieve information. Good attention to detail, ability to interpret and record works accurately. Will prioritize workload and meet deadlines. Has a ‘can do' attitude, is well-organised, reliable, motivated team player with an open approach. Will pass on knowledge, their experience and show willingness to assist others. Will develop positive, supportive working relationships with team and colleagues. Full UK Driving licence Desirable – Experience of working in a military environment.
