Assistant Project Manager (PM1)
Job Summary: This is an entry-level classification of Project Management. This position, with very close
supervision, will assist a Senior or tenured Project Manager in executing an EPC project. The duties will
vary from field documentation to creating and delivering the required daily and monthly reports. The
Assistant PM will have “hands-on” practical experience to understand and develop project management
systems and technical direction of EPC projects teams in delivering safe, cost-effective and quality
execution of electric substation, transmission, and distribution projects and/or client accounts. The focus
of the Assistant PM is to learn and mature in the following skills with an ability to work with greater
independence of all aspects of projects including planning, scope, work breakdown, schedule, cost, safety
and quality as defined in the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK).
Duties & Responsibilities: Under very close supervision, the assistant project manager will assist the
project manager as directed in:
• Management of the project in accordance with Primoris Policies and Procedures
• Management of the client and project stakeholders, ensuring effective business relationships are in
place and trusted by all
• All aspects of contract negotiation, change order identification, submittal and approval,
administration, establishing the system to carry out the contract including management of
subcontractors
• Effective change control and risk management processes
• EH&S and Quality programs appropriate for the project
• Thorough estimates and proposals
• Effective project meetings (project kickoff, client alignment, status meeting, progress review, etc)
• Provide meaningful performance related feedback/input to appropriate line management and
project team members
• Project reporting and status for the project team, management, and client
• Accurate project financial reports to project accounting with adequate backup for management,
internal and external accounting and/or SOX requirements
• Effective financial controls to ensure project profitability and expected cash flow positions
• Accurate invoices to ensure timely issuance and payment
Required Qualifications:
• 0-2 years related work experience demonstrating an aptitude for this type of work
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication, organizational and time management skills
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• Ability and willingness to work and lodge out of town if required
• Ability to adapt to changing technology and environment
• Ability to work in a team environment and collaborating with others to achieve shared goals
• Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS office application
• Skills in written communications; ability to compose basic documents, formal letters, invoices
• High energy level with the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment
• High commitment to achieving goals and plans
