Job Description

We are seeking a Project Assistant with over three years of experience to join our Maintenance Engineering and Inspection Team in Atlanta, GA. The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the GDOT District 7 Maintenance Engineer and the MEI Team by monitoring project documentation and managing day-to-day activities. This includes overseeing the electronic document control system, coordinating budgets, scheduling, documenting materials for project meetings, producing and distributing reports, and ensuring quality control of documentation.

ResponsibilitiesAssist the District 7 Deputy Engineer in the maintenance department, focusing on pavement resurfacing, inspections of roadside assets and their conditions, environmental work, and homeless encampment clean-ups.Manage contracts by preparing requirements, completing assessments for renewal, requesting extensions, approving cost amendments, establishing annual contract amounts, and confirming documentation.Handle purchasing tasks by accurately coding purchases, submitting requisitions, receiving and distributing purchase orders, and managing contract files.Oversee budget management by tracking planned versus actual costs, verifying transactions, preparing monthly reports, notifying of funding shortages, planning contract funding against budget allocation within fiscal year constraints, and responding to invoice discrepancies.Keep track of GDOT project deliverables for the district engineer.Essential SkillsMinimum of two years' relevant experience in the specialist area of work.Proficiency with Office suite, particularly Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.Experience in the AEC industry.Proficiency in contract management, purchasing, and budget management for AEC projects, ideally in roadway maintenance.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong administrative skills and project coordination experience.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Capability to manipulate Excel spreadsheets is highly important.Work Environment

The role primarily involves office work, including checking and screening emails, generating reports, and clerical duties. The Project Assistant will handle data provided and input it into Excel. While remote work is an option, it is expected that the candidate will come into the office at least two days a week. The work environment is hands-on, requiring fieldwork or road presence, and the position is based at the ATL Department of Transportation One Georgia Center.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
