Assistant Professor of the Practice in German Studies
Assistant Professor of the Practice in German Studies. The Department of German Studies is seeking an Assistant Professor of the Practice in German Studies, beginning July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will coordinate the German language program and will maintain teaching interests in contemporary German visual and media culture. The new faculty member will also instruct students in web design and video production skills as part of a portfolio-based pedagogical approach. The department is committed to cultivating a curriculum that reflects the diversity of contemporary German society and is inclusive and welcoming to all students. The teaching load is 3-2, with sabbatical eligibility after ten semesters of teaching. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in German Studies or related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor of the Practice; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. in German Studies or related field within one year of hire.
