Job Title Assistant Professor of English (British and Anglophone Literature and Culture) Agency Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi Department College Of Liberal Arts Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Corpus Christi, Texas Job Type Faculty Job Description The English Studies faculty at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Literary Studies, beginning in August of 2026. We seek applicants with expertise in British or non-U.S. Anglophone literature (Long Eighteenth Century, Victorian, or Modernist), with demonstrated fluency in queer theory and/or the histories and literary representation of gender and sexuality. We especially welcome candidates whose scholarship and teaching take a multilingual, comparative, or diasporic approach. Teaching expectations will include a 3/3 course load comprising British literary surveys, first-year writing, lower-division literature courses in the university core, upper-division courses in gender and sexuality studies, and MA-level seminars. Related Information The Department of English at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi allows English majors to pursue undergraduate coursework with either a Writing or Literary Studies emphasis. The department additionally offers curricula for secondary English certification; certificates in Writing for Non-Profits, Social Media, and TESOL; and minors in Technical and Professional Writing, Creative Writing, and Literary Studies. The graduate program provides an interdisciplinary educational experience by requiring advanced study in Literary Studies, Writing Studies, and Applied Linguistics. Required Qualifications: + PhD in English, Comparative Literature, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, or related field. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.  + Record of active scholarly production or engagement within the fields of British and/or non-U.S. Anglophone literature and culture. + Teaching experience in writing, literature, and/or gender and sexuality studies commensurate with current rank. Preferred Qualifications: + A commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy, especially in the context of a regional university designated as a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution.  + Experience teaching and advising first-generation students and historically underserved communities. This may include interdisciplinary teaching or other professional development relating to cultural-studies minors and social-justice certificate programs. + Demonstrated evidence of an ability to teach in face-to-face and online modalities. + Demonstrated evidence of ability to teach British literature surveys.
