Assistant Professor of Dental Hygiene.- Full-Time

The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine (UPSDM), with its Dental Hygiene Program in the Department of Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry, announces the immediate availability of one full-time (12-month) non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position will serve as the Program Director of the Dental Hygiene Program. This is a leadership role that combines academic administration, strategic planning, and community engagement. Responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of the Dental Hygiene program, including curriculum development, evaluation and revision, faculty management, accreditation compliance, and student success initiatives. Additional responsibilities include teaching, committee assignments, student mentoring, scholarly activities and research, participation in professional association activities, university service, and participation in the faculty practice.

Academic rank and salary are commensurate with education, teaching, and professional experience. The program administrator must be a dental hygienist who is a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and possesses a master's or higher degree, and has a background in education and the professional experience necessary to understand and fulfill the program goals. Additional credentials such as a PhD, MBA, or other advanced degrees with be considered favorable. To be considered for the position, candidates must have at least 5 years of administrative, instructional, and professional experience. The successful candidate must possess or be eligible for dental hygiene licensure and a dental hygiene local anesthesia permit in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The School of Dental Medicine does require a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to the official offer of the position.
