We seek faculty who thrive in multicultural academic environments and are committed to access and excellence in higher education. www.baruch.cuny.edu The Weissman School of Arts and Sciences at Baruch College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of South Asian History beginning in Fall 2026. Candidates should demonstrate a strong track record of research and teaching at the undergraduate level. The History department at Baruch is a dedicated and vibrant department with strong coverage of world regions beyond the US and Europe. We seek candidates whose research and teaching complement and expand the expertise of our current faculty; priority will go to scholars specializing in the premodern to early modern periods. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will join a dynamic department that prioritizes interdisciplinary teaching and research. The candidate will be expected to: + Maintain an active research profile and establish a growing recognition in the field + Teach a range of 3-credit courses totaling 18 credits per academic year (3 courses per semester) to undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds + Develop and implement new courses related to their area of expertise, as well as surveys of Global History + Participate in service to the Department, School, College, University, and field **QUALIFICATIONS** Minimum Qualifications: + Ph.D. in History or closely related field at time of appointment (August 2026) + Working knowledge of at least one South Asian language besides English Preferred Qualifications: + Evidence of an active research agenda + Evidence of teaching effectiveness **COMPENSATION** $84,011- $95,879; commensurate with qualifications and experience CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
