Summary of Job Duties:The College of Health Professions at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) invites applications for a full–time, 12-month faculty position in the Department of Respiratory Care. This is an ideal opportunity for a creative, resourceful individual to contribute to established, high-quality bachelor’s, master’s, and online degree programs. The program has an excellent national reputation and strong institutional and community support.
Qualifications:

Master’s degree or higher in respiratory care, health science, education, leadership, science, or related field or Bachelor’s degree in respiratory care, health science, education, leadership, science, or related field – with an agreement to complete a suitable master’s degree within 3 years.  

Active credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Current Arkansas state license as LRCP (or ability to obtain a license).

Minimum of three years experience as an RRT with experience in critical care or neonatal/pediatrics.

Demonstrated strength in communication, organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an RRT with experience in critical care.  

Active NBRC Adult Critical Care, Neonatal – Pediatric, or Asthma Education Specialist certification

Advanced Cardiac Life Support, NRP, or PALS Instructor.

Experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program.

Experience in advanced patient assessment, diagnostics, hemodynamics, and disease management.

Experience in interprofessional healthcare teams.

Experience with instructional technology using an online learning management system.

Experience with instructional simulation activities.

Active involvement in professional activities at the local, state, or national level.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

Design and teach academic and laboratory courses in area(s) of content expertise at the junior, senior and degree advancement levels 

Teach academic courses outside of specialty expertise in support of program requirements  

Bedside instruction and mentoring of students in clinical practicum rotations / internships 

Academic and professional advising and student mentoring  

Design and facilitate clinical simulation education 

Contribute to program and curriculum assessment, planning, and recruiting activities 

Engage in scholarly activity consistent with the professional expectations for core faculty 

Serve on Department and College committees and support the overall College of Health Professions and University community  

Actively participate in service to the profession
