General Summary
This position is responsible for providing plant oversight for cost and engineering activities that facilitates the efficient progress of plant operations and assures compliance with regulatory agencies. This role supports locations in Bakersfield and Eastern Sierras.Essential Job Accountabilities
Staff Training/Development
Meet with plant operations team to review Operational Plans and KPI'sWork with plant operations team to set clear goals/KPI's.Assist engineers in achieving their goals.Ensure the team receives appropriate data on a regular basis to make high-quality decisions based upon Granite’s position, market strategy, and profit levers for each site.Operations Management
Review and communicate daily/weekly cost to appropriate team members.Monitor Production Performance vs Budgets.Implement Best Practices to Exceed Production ExpectationsCreate and implement action plans to correct Issues identified by cost/operational reviewDevelop & Review Monthly Production Schedules with Plant Engineer & Superintendent.Ensure L&E Costs are at or below Budget/Industry Standards.Plant Equipment Management
Develop Monthly/Annual plant equipment forecasts for all sites to achieve budget.Maintain on-line availability >95% AC plants And > 85% AG plantsDevelop and maintain a maintenance tracker for all equipment to track and ensure standards are met.Evaluate and ensure lowest cost options are utilized when purchasing parts/services.Evaluate Equipment capacity and limitations to justify Capex/optimization needs.Develop and implement Safe working procedures for maintenance of our facilities.Quality, Environmental & Safety
Review Daily Quality Reports and take corrective action as needed.Identify and Address quality trends timely.Ensure plant operators produce desired products each shift.Visually inspect products, loadout, stockpiling areas to ensure best practices are being utilized.Communicate Product Balance to Quality team to ensure Pit Balance is maintained.Review and Optimize products Quarterly.Review permit requirements to understand our commitments and obligations.Implement BMP’s consistent with permit requirements and best practices.Preform quarterly Site Inspections/Audits to ensure Compliance.Communicate/Train permit requirements to the relevant teams.Attend & Run Safety Meetings each week.Participate in Daily Take 5 meetings to identify hazards and how to mitigate them.Perform monthly Site Inspections with Superintendent and relevant staff.Communicate Industry/State/Federal Regulation changes.Partner with Safety to ensure Best Practices are being met/developed.Sales
Provide costs for all aggregate/asphalt products for sales team. Communicate Product Balance Concerns Timely.Ensure Inventory accommodates backlog & future Sales.Ensure that maintenance practices do not Adversely impact our customers.Create customer-centric culture with operators to demonstrate customer value each day.Manage Cap Ex projects to include initial proposals, payback analysis, project build/implementation, and post-project analysis.Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred or a minimum 5 years experience as a plant engineer, or other plant-related experience.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of construction materials field experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Knowledge of rock plants, AC Plants and heavy equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of materials business.
Experience with Hot Mix Asphalt Plants
General understanding of Plant operations and mechanical requirements.
Strong understanding of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures.
Ability to establish relationships with agencies and represent Granite in a public forum.
Strong public speaking and ability to communicate with management

Base Salary Range:
$93,729.00 - $140,595.00Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
