Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

 

To assist leading the Supply Chain function of the ADSL and be a key member of the ADSL Leadership Team making strategies to bring operational excellence and result in the area of Supply Chain function.

 

DIMENSIONS

Creating and executing of strategies in the area of Supplier / Vendor Management,  Capacity and Raw Material Planning and Warehousing / Logistics

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Supply Chain Strategies  - Design and implement Supply Chain strategies to improve the following: 

 

Capacity Planning

Liaise closely with Supply Chain Manager, Product line Managers, Sales, CS, and GPD teams to understand the market trends, vendor requirements, in house capacities, in house potential capacities, Inter-company available capacities and Out-source supplier capacities to deliver the customer requirement with the highest “flexibility”.

 

Demand Planning, Inventory & Purchasing Planning,

Initiate and conduct the S&OP process to understand the customer demand and reflect the demand in terms of raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods form to plan the net inventory. Based on the customer pull, plan the purchasing, inventory and the logistics, optimizing the ordering cost, stock holding cost and the transport cost. Further, maintain a robust ordering process meeting the processes defined in the SOP. Inventory of all purchased items to be managed effectively focusing on “just in time” and “First in first out”.

Drive the inventory controlling function to make sure the inventories of raw materials, semi-finished goods, finished goods and consumables are maintained at optimum levels while minimizing possible provisions and assuring 100% material availability.

 

Achieve department KPIs.

Make sure the set annual targets of the department such as inventory turns, Procurement savings, minimize delivery cost and warehouse reliability are exceeded.

 

Optimize the service level of the warehouse. 

Make sure the warehouse follows set KPIs such as raising GRNs within 24 hrs after quality approval, keeping up to date records of all materials in the warehouse, proper record keeping of all materials received and issued (need to follow first in first out) and housekeeping per the 5S standard. Also, recommended safety standards to be followed strictly by all warehouse employees in all activities within warehouse premises.

 

Work closely with the product-line managers and make sure the information related to material required for production planning is provided on time. 

 

Overlook the operations of the Dispatch section and arrange deliveries to make sure the promised dates to the customers are met while the reliability and flexibility are maintained. The deliveries to be arranged to maximize customer satisfaction while optimizing the transport cost.

Identify and lead improvement projects using effective tools such as lean tools to drive operational excellence in the Supply Chain organization.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Comply with the regional and global supply chain strategy.

Maintain records as required by ISO, e.g. supplier evaluations and completed questionnaires.

Maintain records of purchases and specifications of materials/goods ordered.

Accountable for daily operations of Planning, warehousing and distribution

Accountable for data analysis and record keeping of Supply Chain related activities for better arrival of strategic decisions

 

Qualifications

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

 

The person should have a detailed understanding about the supply chain strategies, warehousing and planning while having a thorough understanding about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, objectives, strategies and goals of the company.

 

He/She should have;

A degree in the relevant field from a recognized university in Sri Lanka.

5 years of working experience in the Supply Chain function of a manufacturing industry

A MBA  would be an added advantage

Hands on experience in working in an ERP preferably Oracle

Immaculate credentials on honesty & integrity with solid track record

Excellent spoken and writing skills in both English and Sinhala

Computer literacy with working knowledge of Google Suite

Should demonstrate strong leadership behaviors to  motivate, direct and develop the Supply Chain team promoting trust and teamwork

Strong analytical, project management and execution skills

There is a high degree of authority to make decisions within the scope of the job. This is however, is subject to the overall authority of the Supervisor of the job

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

 

Internal With Production, Quality Assurance, Finance, Global Product Development, Sales and Customer Services departments in particular and, with other staff in general deemed as your “internal customers”

External With Suppliers
