=Objective of the position=
- Support Product Development managers to develop new products of Ultradur to support rapid growth of Performance Material (PM) engineering plastics business.
- Continuously develop and build up technical competencies in PBT product related technical area
- Trouble shooting of existing commercialized products by supporting Operations and Technical product Management as and when needed.
- Collaborate with commercial team, supplier & customer for seeking new innovation opportunities.

=Main Tasks=
[Product development and Innovation]
- Support and work with PD managers to ensure timely solution delivery of responsible product development projects/Topics;
- Run project professionally according to BASF Innovation management requirement & process
- Regularly propose innovative ideas and technical proposals for new product developments that matches industry trends and customers’ needs.
- Implement formulation tests to reach the target properties and sampling to customers within appropriate time not to lose the customer schedule.
- Visit customers to understand their technical requirements and to translate into CTQ for product development.
- Provide technical data and value propositions linked to samples submitted to customers to convince them that the sample performances are well aligned with their requirements.
- Coordinate PTO with plant process engineer and evaluate the PTO sample quality to check that all properties are in line with customer specification.
- Work closely with material testing team on newly developed product evaluations and testing, supporting on new testing methods development if necessary.
- Define improvement needs of product performance, explore new building blocks & new molecules that can bring new values of product performance, explore new chemistry & blends that can enhance our value proposition, be alert to emerging markets and applications for sustainable growth of our business.
- Based on the above mentioned exploration, propose Tech Push ideas consulting with manager and address to kick off the Tech Push project
- Support legal team & Cross innovation team for FTO analysis & innovation IP filing by generating technical data & providing technical suggestion

[Knowhow management and Other collaborations]
- Ensure that the documentation of corresponding R&D activity is routinely done and upload into the required database.
- Update project files for monthly & quarterly R&D reporting.
- Update project files for R&D internal meetings, R&D meeting with Industry, meeting with TD & MKT team as well as joining the presentation of the project progress when necessary.
- Collaborate with TD & MKT teams to visit customers for understanding their requirements, to get customer feedbacks on sample trials, and to follow customer approvals.
- Provide technical data, clarify value proposition, and prepare sales kit with TD & MKT team to promote new solutions to the market
- Participate in regular communication with other regions on the projects and exchange of know-hows.
- Participate in training programs that are linked to digitalization, LSS, competency improvement, Product Stewardship training, etc.

[EHS]
- Ensure the occupational, health and environment safety practices during the day-to-day operation in compliance with BASF and local country regulations.
- Direct responsibility for the safety of new chemicals/raw materials brought to the lab.
- Provide safety data sheet to the pilot technicians in case of new raw material introduction to make them take proper PPE to prevent from inhalation or contact of toxic molecules during handling or processing
- Join the site EHS meeting and support 5S audit and other types of lab audit.

=Job Requirements=
- Possess at least a Master Degree's in Polymer Engineering & Science /Chemistry / Materials Science/ Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related fields. Candidates with relevant hands on experience will also be considered.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in product development, engineering plastics formulations & compounding knowledge, ideally has direct experience of both polyamide and polyester.
- Good technical knowledge on EP formulation, processing and raw materials.
- Good understanding of EP applications in targeted industry segments.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Value added with experience of design of experiments and statistical data analysis.
