Assistant Manager, Inventory Control
About The RoleReporting directly to the Director of Inventory Control, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day inventory management and leading the store operations team. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, and a hands-on approach to managing processes and people. The Assistant Manager will help ensure accurate inventory tracking, support exception-based workflows, and monitor for potential shrink risks. They’ll work cross-functionally to implement controls and improve operational processes. On the store operations side, this person will guide a team responsible for fulfillment activities including picking, tagging, shipping, quality checks, and reverse logistics to support our retail locations. This is a full-time, onsite position based in either Phoenix, AZ or Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

What You Get To Do Every Day

Oversee day-to-day inventory reporting and reconciliation tasks, ensuring timely identification of discrepancies and coaching the team on resolution best practices

Investigate and resolve inventory exceptions (e.g. mis-ships, overgoods, RTS, no SKUs) to reduce exposure to shrink and ensure timely processing

Partner with cross-functional teams to reconcile inventory variances and recommend process improvements to prevent future discrepancies

Conduct regular inventory audits and ensure alignment between physical inventory and system records, addressing discrepancies as needed

Help build and maintain forecasting models for shrink exposure and proactively flag risk areas

Assist in managing shrink mitigation projects and support implementation of corrective actions across operational teams

Maintain documentation and SOPs for inventory-related tasks and support team adherence to process standards

Supervise daily store operations tasks, including picking, tagging, and shipping transfers to retail locations, ensuring SLA adherence and quality control

Provide leadership and support to the store operations team, including scheduling, training, and coaching for performance

Ensure proper execution of reverse logistics and warehouse organization standards for inventory designated for retail

What You Bring To The Role

5+ years working directly in shortage control, inventory control, shrink management, loss prevention, or related and relevant experience required

2+ years of direct people management experience required

Ability to work well with all levels of management within the company

Strong management skills capable of leading and motivating

Ability to work independently with limited direction, and communicate effectively

Ability to develop and coach your team to elevate the skills and expertise of the team

Well-organized and can adapt to shifting priorities

Clear and concise both verbally and in writing

Agile, dynamic, problem-solving mindset

The expected salary range for this role is $-$. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity.
