Job Description

The Assistant manager will support the department by providing excellent assistance in every area needed, being flexible, able to handle multiple things at a time, a logical thinker, detail oriented and highly organized.  

Ensure a safe working arena for Maintenance personnel and that safety standards are met in accordance with company policy.Coordinate the daily and weekly operation of the Maintenance DepartmentWork closely with the Maintenance Supervisors to ensure daily and weekly tasks are completed in a safe and efficient mannerWorks closely with other department Supervisors and Assistant Managers in order to ensure that tasks are completed in a planned and coordinated fashionUnderstand maintenance cost drivers and promote cost effective solutions amongst maintenance personnelAssist and provide guidance to Maintenance Supervisors to resolve HR and ER related issuesAssist Maintenance Manager in developing short to mid-term maintenance plans, ensures the highest planned work complianceUnderstand the knowledge, skills, and abilities of each maintenance employee in order to select, train, and provide guidance and inspiration through leadership and teamwork to ensure empowered work teamsReview deficiencies noted during corrective maintenance, properly channel these issues toward executionMaintain and advise on the use and disposition of stock items and surplus itemsConsult with Maintenance Supervisors and craft workers on technical problemsEnsure proper tool availability in order to improve the maintenance efficiencyMonitor shop qualifications and quality standards for outside contractorsAssist Maintenance Manager in developing and executing major maintenance overhauls and outages

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences: 

–  Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience

–  Must have previous supervisory experience

–  Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals 

–  Demonstrated ability to analyze failures and implement effective corrective solutions

–  Effective communication skills to influence all levels of personnel and to create change

–  Demonstrated leadership ability to influence safety practices and initiatives

–  Ability to work as a team member with strong time management and record keeping skills

–  Ability to develop work schedules and coordinate projects/assignments to meet
