**Position Summary**
Bridgestone is seeking a highly skilled and business-oriented Privacy Counsel who has strong knowledge and experience of data privacy to be part of our Bridgestone West (Americas and EMEA) Privacy Team.
In this position, you will help support our business operations by advising on data privacy matters and helping to continuously improve our data privacy program by working together with business stakeholders at all levels and providing pragmatic privacy advice to our fast-moving businesses. While this role will primarily focus on providing advice to our business operations in the Americas (including operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil and Chile), you will also have the opportunity to support our entire Bridgestone West privacy program. The Privacy Counsel reports to the Bridgestone West Chief Privacy Officer.
This is a highly visible, cross-functional role suited for someone who excels in business education, collaboration, and translating complex rules into clear, actionable guidance. The role will be based in Nashville, TN working a hybrid schedule (Tu-Th) in office.
**Responsibilities**
+ Enhance and expand Bridgestone’s privacy program to align with the evolving business needs and regulatory requirements in the West.
+ Implement privacy procedures and compliance frameworks across the West, with a particular focus on operations in the Americas.
+ Provide expert counsel on data privacy laws and privacy frameworks.
+ Partner with business leaders to integrate privacy best practices and “privacy by design” controls into corporate strategy and operations.
+ Lead training and awareness initiatives to promote a strong privacy culture throughout the organization.
+ Advise on data governance, risk assessment, incident response, and contract negotiations related to privacy compliance.
+ Serve as a key driver of change management, ensuring privacy priorities are effectively communicated and adopted across business units.
+ Support strategic Information Security and Data Governance projects relating to personal data and evaluate and address privacy risks.
+ Stay ahead of evolving privacy laws, business implementation trends and proactively recommend compliance strategies.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
+ Minimum of 8 years of corporate experience in privacy, data protection, and compliance.
+ Strong knowledge of U.S. privacy laws and experience with privacy frameworks outside the U.S. including GDPR and main privacy laws in Latin America.
+ Proven ability to adapt and implement privacy programs within a corporate setting.
+ The ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of management to foster privacy compliance and drive organizational alignment on privacy initiatives.
+ Experience handling privacy impact assessments, audits, and regulatory inquiries.
+ A team player who leads with humility and excel in cooperating with multi-national teams located remotely. Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to effectively translate complex privacy requirements into business-friendly solutions.
+ Project management skills, with ability and proven track record to plan, manage and develop strategic initiatives to successful goal completion, ensuring alignment with strategic program objectives.
+ Demonstrated success in leading change management initiatives related to privacy and compliance.
+ CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPP/LA, or equivalent privacy certification preferred.
