Assistant General Counsel, Contracts and Privacy

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Assistant General Counsel, Contracts and Privacy at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this position is to provide legal counsel and services to management and staff of Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed) on commercial contracts and data privacy. This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and the position will perform other duties as assigned. + Draft, review, and negotiate all types of commercial contracts (including confidentiality, vendor, partnership, employment, data processing and master services agreements) and related documents (including statements of work, amendments, addenda, attachments, forms, etc.). + Provide legal advice related to use of data, intellectual property, technology and privacy for the credit union business units and functions. Support the Privacy Officer in working closely with Information Technology and Information Security on data protection and privacy initiatives and issues. + Represent or assist outside counsel with the representation of the credit union and its subsidiaries in a variety of civil actions including negotiations, special settlements, delinquency collection, and employment actions. + Keep informed of legislation, regulations, judicial and other legal developments, and trends affecting federal credit unions. + Analyze and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations with probable outcomes for the credit union + Interact with PenFed and subsidiary staff, vendors, and senior government officials on a regular basis. + Other duties as assigned consistent with qualifications. *This role is responsible for ensuring business continuity.* Qualifications Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. + Graduate degree from an accredited law school required. + Active member of the highest court of a state bar required. + Minimum of four (4) years as a practicing attorney with experience in commercial contracts and data privacy. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Experience working in fast-paced environments and able to multi-task. + Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. + Proven project management skills and results driven. + Ability to work in a team environment and highly organized. Supervisory Responsibility This position will not supervise employees. Licenses and Certifications Ability to practice law in the state were assigned Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. *Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.* Travel Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
