The Assistant Field Hockey Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the administration of all aspects of the sport program including but not limited to coaching and teaching of students, game and practice preparation and execution, film analysis, recruiting, social media management and creation, travel coordination, budget management, and compliance with NCAA, NFHCA, and conference regulations. This is a full-time 10-month position. Job responsibilities include but may not be limited to:Assisting head coach in operating and coaching a high-performing NCAA DIII field hockey program.
Coach, teach, and mentor student-athletes on and off the field.
Prepare for and teach on-field sessions to include sport strategy and technical skills, as well as strength and conditioning.
Analyze team and opponent film for breakdown and educational presentation.
Mentor athletes in areas such as leadership, life skills, and academic success.
Coach and/or Supervise student-athletes in the varsity weight room.
Participate in on and off campus recruitment activities of athletically and academically qualified student-athletes which includes: identification, recruiting strategy development, consistent relationship building and communication (in-person, email, text, phone call, zoom call) with recruits and their families, social media management, data entry, tournament organization and travel, on-campus clinics and prospect days.
Game day operations including game film, field set up, pre-game communications.
Assist with equipment and apparel management, inventory, and orders.
Team travel coordination including meal orders, hotels, car rentals, etc.
Management and reconciliation of funds.
Occasional driving of team vans.
Event planning, scheduling, and promotion.
Effective communication with all types of people, and maintain a strong working relationship with students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff and other college personnel.
Stay up to date and adhere to all regulations from NCAA DIII, NFHCA, and CFHC.
Supervise student workers as assigned.
Maintain CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the head coach and athletic directors.
Bachelor's Degree
This position requires a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and must be insurable by the College’s insurance carrier.
Must have the ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
Prefered: collegiate coaching and/or playing experience, or high-performance club coaching.
Travel is required and includes extended periods on the road; Evening, holiday and weekend hours are required.
