Job Description
The Assistant Editor/Translator, under general supervision, provides review, editing, and translations to ensure proper grammar, clarity, organization, style, format, consistency, and ADA compliance to support the development of educational materials.
Responsibilities
+ Supports the development of educational products:
+ Edits, proofreads, and formats educational materials according to internal style, readability, and accessibility standards for target audiences.
+ Assists with ADA compliance for online materials, including captioning videos and developing transcripts.
+ Assists instructional design team by verifying and organizing finalized educational content.
+ Reviews course materials to ensure quality control.
+ Tracks the status of assigned projects to ensure work stays on schedule and meets deadlines.
+ Addresses the needs of Spanish-speaking learners:
+ Translates edited copy from English to Spanish maintaining internal style, readability, and accessibility standards for target audiences.
+ Records narrations for online courses in English and Spanish by reading from a script.
+ Collaborates across internal working groups to ensure needs are met from pre-production to launch.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Two years of related experience in writing, editing, proofreading, and updating electronic content.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Fluent reader, writer, and speaker of English and Spanish.
+ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications, and editorial review functions.
+ Knowledge of online course design principles and practices.
+ Advanced writing skills (using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation).
+ Ability to work cooperatively with others.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with general supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience developing ADA-compliant materials.
+ Experience implementing APA style/usage and branding guidelines.
+ Experience translating educational materials from English to Spanish.
Salary: Pay Grade 8
