Position Summary:

The assistant director of scouting at Rice University works under the direction of the Director of Player Personnel and General Manager and is responsible for planning and coordinating recruiting of student athletes for the football program. This person partners with the recruiting staff as well as others on the coaching staff in developing recruiting strategies, in cooperation with the Head Football Coach. The assistant director of scouting is also responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of Rice University and its intercollegiate athletics program as well as adherence to Departmental, University, American Athletic Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures as it relates to recruitment of student athletics.

Workplace Requirements: 

On campus position: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.

Minimum Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in related field One or more (1+) year related professional experience in student recruitment and/or working with a collegiate or professional football program. Must possess (or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire) and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license with no more than three moving violations and/or at fault accidents within the past 36 months, and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past five years

Essential Functions:

Assist DPP with Compliance within the recruiting department Assist in all on-campus Official and Unofficial visits Assist DPP with evaluation of scholar-athletes and evaluation for coaches Assist DPP Provide senior, junior, and transfer portal athletes for position coaches to evaluate weekly.  Assist DPP with Transfer Portal Evaluation Constantly evaluate and look for ways to create a streamlined and efficient recruiting department Assist DPP with coordination of Off-Campus Coaches Travel Communicate with position coaches about travel, school/home visits  Plan ahead for future recruiting classes Assist in Management of Summer Camps & JR Days
