The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at the Sanctuary of Holy Cross in South Bend, Indiana, plays a vital leadership role in supporting the Director of Nursing in managing the clinical operations of the nursing department. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to residents in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and promotes a culture of excellence, safety, and compliance within the long-term care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, organizing, and directing daily nursing operations.
Supervise nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other clinical personnel.
Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, infection control protocols, and facility policies.
Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations of nursing staff.
Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor resident care and intervene when necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
Conduct rounds to assess resident conditions and staff performance.
Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
Assist in preparing for state surveys and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and records.
Promote teamwork, communication, and a respectful work environment.
Act as a liaison between residents, families, staff, and external healthcare providers.
Serve as acting Director of Nursing in their absence.
Qualifications:
Current RN license in the State of Indiana.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree with relevant experience considered.
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in long-term care, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
CPR certification required.
Strong knowledge of nursing practices, geriatric care, and regulatory standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Work Environment:
Clinical and administrative setting within a long-term care facility.
May require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.
Physical demands include walking, standing, lifting, and responding to emergencies.
