Assistant Director of Engineering - Hilton Des Moines Downtown

What will I be doing?

\n

As Assistant Director of Engineering, you would be responsible for assisting the Director in overseeing the functionality and safety of the facility to protect the well-being of all guests and team members in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:  

\n\nAssist in directing and overseeing the functionality and safety of the facility, including, but not limited to, physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems and grounds according to federal, state and local regulations.\nConduct facility inspections and direct general construction and the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety.\nAssign, verify and document completion of all routine maintenance and repairs in the property maintenance management system\nCommunicates with city/county/state officials to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, to coordinate required inspections and to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards.\nAssists in the execution of capital projects and property rehabilitations.\nAssist in monitoring and developing team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations, providing professional development and delivering recognition and reward.\nRecruit, interview and train team members.\nActs in absence of the Director.\nLeads special projects, as needed.\n

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

\n\nThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nConsiderable knowledge of mathematical skills necessary to interpret electrical, mechanical and building systems.\nConsiderable knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems with the ability to analyze their design and intent and performance. Considerable knowledge of construction and building systems.\nAbility to analyze trends in utility consumption report and predict energy forecast and to set up energy conservation programs.\nAbility to write and speak the English language to comprehend and communicate job functions to engineering staff.• Ability to perform duties in confined space and in awkward positions.\nAbility to remain calm in an emergency situation and to effectively deal with internal and external customers.\nAbility to instruct subordinates and accomplish goals on a timely basis.• Ability to translate technical information or problems into layman’s terms.\nFinger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches and buttons, a computer keyboard and a 10-keycalculator.\n\n

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION 

\n

High School graduate or equivalent required. At least 2-year college (associate) degree preferred.

\n

EXPERIENCE

\n

Four years experience in engineering management in hospitality or high-rise industry. 

\n

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES 

\n

Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate. CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred. Any licenses or permits that may be required by law or company regulations, such as an Electrician's license.
