Brooklyn Center is hiring an Assistant Director of Engineering
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Director of Engineering with significant experience in skilled nursing or healthcare facility maintenance. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with deep expertise across multiple trades and a strong understanding of regulatory standards.
Duties Include:
Assist with regular inspections of facility and equipment for safety, upkeep, and appearance
Support the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical installations, and more
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents
Ensure timely repair and turnover of vacated rooms
Be available for emergency troubleshooting and repairs
Maintain all equipment in clean and functional condition at all times
Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and OSHA regulations
Requirements Include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Extensive, relevant experience in facility maintenance within a skilled nursing or healthcare environment is required
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance
Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
Flexible schedule with rotating on-call and weekend availability
Fire safety certifications preferred (S12, S13, Fire Safety Director)
Prior experience working in a nursing home is strongly preferred
