Job Summary
Bowdoin College’s Athletics Department is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and athletic achievement. As a member of NCAA Division III and the NESCAC , the department emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth, supported by outstanding coaching and state-of-the-art facilities.
The Assistant Director of Athlete Services is responsible for operational activities related to athletic equipment and uniforms, such as budgeting (working with the Associate Athletic Director for Operations), purchasing, payment authorization, distribution and inventory management, and maintenance. The Assistant Director of Athlete Services oversees student and casual employees, and, in partnership with the Equipment Manager, is responsible for reliable and timely delivery of laundry to support Bowdoin’s 31 varsity programs.

Education/Skills Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ Athletic Equipment Managers’ Association ( AEMA ) certification preferred
+ Working knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC rules preferred
+ Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting and inventory software
+ Understanding of budgeting and inventory procedures
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Superior verbal and written communication skills
+ Excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people in a positive and effective manner
+ Working knowledge of athletics and the nature of college sport seasons
+ Ability to supervise and motivate department staff members performing secondary duties, casual, and student employees
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
+ At least 1 year of relevant experience; athletic equipment room experience preferred
+ Management and budgeting experience preferred
+ Experience working with students in a secondary, post-secondary or collegiate environment is preferred

Standard Work Days and Hours
+ This is a full-time, exempt-level position working 40 hours/48 weeks (0.92 FTE )
+ The regular work schedule will typically be from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with occasional nights and weekends during the academic year. and from 9:00 pm to 3:00 pm with no nights and weekend outside of the academic year.
+ Please note work hours vary widely based upon sport season and needs of athletic programs
+ The anticipated start dates the for candidate selected will be on or after August 4, 2025
