Position Summary The Assistant Director for Recruitment and Training is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position reporting to the Director for Residence Life. The Assistant Director for Recruitment and Training works closely with other professionals in the administration and management of a comprehensive housing and residence life program that serves 5700+ on-campus students. This position has the responsibility for general administration oversight and management of recruitment, training and development of professional and graduate staff. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree with concentration in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Facilities Management, or related field. A minimum of four years of full-time experience working in Housing and Residential Programs (Residence Life). Number of Months per Year 12 FLSA Exempt Key Responsibilities ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Percentage Of Time 40% Key Responsibility Recruitment and Training Essential Tasks Coordinate the recruitment and selection of professional staff and graduate assistants. Coordinate and develop ongoing training for professional and graduate staff. Develop and implement a marketing strategy for professional and graduate positions. Serve as the department liaison with the Higher Education program. Develop a competency-based curriculum and development plan for graduate and professional staff. Percentage Of Time 40% Key Responsibility Supervision and Leadership Essential Tasks Supervise, train, and evaluate 3-4 full-time, live-in, master’s level coordinators for residence Life. Articulate vision, mission, and goals for the area, department, and division. Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of departmental goals and initiatives. Conduct regular one-on- one meetings with staff. Provide appropriate referrals to other university departments/resources as needed. Oversee department committees. Serve on an on-call duty rotation for 5,700 residents. Percentage Of Time 15% Key Responsibility Administration Essential Tasks Assist in the overall direction and strategic planning of short- and long-term goals of Residence Life. Maintain accurate accounting of allocated funds and expenditures. Work cooperatively with other staff members, departments, and offices across the University to foster strong partnerships. Percentage Of Time 5% Key Responsibility Other Duties Essential Tasks Serve as a representative of Housing and Residence Life on various departmental, divisional, and university committees.
