The UTeach Institute serves as the hub to a vibrant national community of practice of more than 700 college and university STEM education experts at 53 US universities and 6,000 K–12 STEM teachers. Purpose

To direct implementation and evaluation of higher education program initiatives to expand and strengthen secondary STEM education, reporting to the Director of the UTeach Institute.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of UTeach university site coordinators, data and evaluation staff, and team leads to ensure efficient, high-quality support for UTeach program implementation in collaboration with higher education partners and across various higher education contexts. To ensure quality and consistency of all UTeach partner university supports, oversee the development, use, revision, and improvement of periodic reports and protocols for evaluation and implementation purposes. Contribute to the development of a positive and productive workplace culture.

Lead national and statewide UTeach program expansion project design, implementation, and evaluation activities. This includes preparing and managing budgets, overseeing and project managing the implementation cycle from recruitment and selection of new partner program sites to full program implementation. Oversee and manage the execution of evaluation services and products that support high quality program implementation.

Establish, monitor, and regularly report progress on annual and quarterly goals for program evaluation and implementation across a variety of initiatives. Implement strategies to establish performance standards, monitor performance, and identify needs for improvement across initiatives. Manage reporting timelines and deliverables for grant funded expansion activities. Prepare funder reports.

Work closely with the Institute Director on development and implementation of strategic growth plans that support sustainability and expansion of Institute programs and services. Represent the Institute at meetings and events to promote the work of the Institute and develop partnerships. Support fundraising activities. Participate in proposal development.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree and 3 years' post-degree experience in education program management and evaluation. Strong project management skills. Experience supervising and developing teams. Knowledge of educational research, evaluation, and programming. Experience designing and implementing evaluation approaches to assess effectiveness of programs. Experience writing reports, analyzing data, and summarizing findings. Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Proposal development experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than 3 years of experience managing complex projects and capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively. Experience processing and communicating complex ideas. Experience with strategic planning and educational program development. Thorough knowledge of current research and national trends, data, and context pertaining to STEM teacher development. Experience leading the design of program evaluation and developing and implementing evaluation instruments. Experience being the lead author for reports and/or papers on research, evaluation, or findings from implementation of education programs or initiatives. Demonstrated success managing projects and leading teams. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written. Experience in higher education. Experience with or knowledge of STEM teacher preparation and the UTeach program specifically.

Salary Range

$95,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Exposure to standard office conditions. In/out of state travel up to 20% of the time, with peak travel times during the spring and fall semesters.
