Posting Details Job Title Assistant Director, Transfer Initiatives Department ADVISING ADMINISTRATION AND ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP Position Number FP354A Location Norfolk, VA Job Summary The Office of Advising Administration guides undergraduate students through academic challenges and choices, oversees the administration of professional advising for ODU’s main campus, and partners with students to support them in achieving their educational goals. This position advises prospective and current transfer students; interprets policies and procedures regarding admissions requirements, major exploration, transfer agreements and academic requirements; and manages the daily operations of the Transfer Center. This position also serves as the main ODU POC for the Transfer VA project, assists with other transfer related projects, and in absence of the Director, represents Transfer Initiatives and the Transfer Center in all University and community events, meetings and functions, as needed. Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications An earned Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Business, or related discipline. + Previous experience working in a Higher Education environment required + Extensive knowledge of academic advising policies, protocol, and management systems + Considerable experience providing academic advising, student engagement, success and/or retention programming in a higher education environment + Considerable knowledge of college student interventions and success programming + Experience in college student recruitment, enrollment, and/or registration processes + Demonstrated experience in collaboration across multiple units to plan and facilitate initiatives to impact student success + Excellent organizational skills + Detail oriented + Ability to manage time to work both independently and as a team member + Ability to coordinate and supervise multiple, concurrent programs/tasks + Excellent public relations skills, including oral, interpersonal and written communication. + Ability to interpret and apply university policies and procedures and to seek guidance as appropriate. + Excellent computer skills. + Ability to plan and manage events and projects and coordinate personnel to facilitate completion. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Community College Transfer Guides and Transfer VA.
