D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Assistant Controller-DHITIC. The right candidate will provide key support to the Controller and strong leadership to all teammates within the Accounting Department. Prepare and analyze various financial reports and other accounting or finance projects as assigned. This is a hybrid position based in Austin, TX area. Candidates must reside locally and be available onsite as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinate the preparation of monthly reporting packages including branch financials and key operating metricsSupervise staff accounting responsible for financial reporting, reconciliations, and journal entriesParticipate in the monthly, quarterly and yearly preparation of financial statementsCommunicate with other departments to coordinate workflow, education, and trainingReview and analyze gross profits, SGA expenses, and assist in cost control effortsOversee the timely reconciliation of balance sheet accountsResponsible for the timely and accurate preparation of budgets and forecastsPrepare reports, analyses, and presentations for senior managementMonitor activities and functions to ensure adherence to established policies and proceduresEnsure strict compliance with regulatory standards.Responsible for administering performance reviews for direct reportsAssist in periodic internal and external audits and ensure year-end activities are completedConduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

Supervises 1 or more employees

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or universitySix to eight years related experience and/or trainingAbility to adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all business, financial, and employee mattersKnowledge of financial statements and internal controlsAbility to focus under pressure and comfortable meeting tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailSolid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulationsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applicationsProficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

CPA or demonstrate candidacy preferredInsurance industry and statutory accounting experience preferred
